Ambulance, helicopter, police and rescue services were called to Mt Piper on Wednesday, January 17, at 2.25pm when a woman’s hand was crushed at a manufacturing plant outside the station’s grounds.
The manufacturing business, which leases land from EnergyAustralia, creates bricks out of boiler ash from the station.
Police said a part of the woman’s clothing had got caught in a ‘block press’ machine and pulled her hand in.
After approximately 2.5 hours emergency services managed to release the woman and transport her to Westmead Hospital.
SafeWork NSW said they are undertaking an investigation into the incident.

A spokesperson for Ambulances NSW said emergency crews had managed to release the woman from a piece of machinery, which her right hand had become trapped in.
Emergency crews were called out to a business located behind Mt Piper Power Station at approximately 2.25pm on Wednesday, January 17, to respond to an industrial incident.
The woman was given pain relief while emergency services attempted to free her hand.
As of 4.45pm on Wednesday the woman had been released from the equipment and was expected to be taken to Westmead Hospital.
A helicopter responded to the incident as well as rescue crews.
SafeWork NSW said they are investigating the incident.
Previously: Multiple emergency service crews are responding to an incident that has occurred at a business located next to Mt Piper Power Station, in which a 49-year-old woman has been injured.
A spokesperson for Ambulances NSW said emergency services were called to the power station at 2.25pm on Wednesday, January 17.
“A 49-year-old woman has had a severe injury to her right hand,” the spokesperson said.
He said that the woman’s hand had become trapped in a piece of machinery.
The woman has been given pain relief but was still on the scene of the incident as of 4.10pm.
A helicopter is responding to the incident as well as rescue crews.
EnergyAustralia has clarified the incident did not occur in the power station but at a business that leases land adjacent to Mt Piper.

A Lithgow ambulance officer said that ambulances were sent to attend to a 47-year-old woman at approximately 3pm, on Wednesday January 17.
He described the woman as being in a “serious but stable condition”.
A helicopter is responding to the incident but as of 3.40pm the woman was still on the scene. Her injuries are currently unknown.
Lithgow police said they were responding to an “industrial accident” at Mt Piper Power Station but could not provide further details.
