A Portland man was jailed for a minimum of four months for stalking or intimidating with the intent to cause physical or mental harm in Lithgow Local Court on January 12.

John Patrick O’Heir entered a late guilty plea to the charge and was sentenced to a maximum term of 12 months in jail.
The court heard O’Heir was let into a friend’s Portland home by her 10-year-old child on September 15 last year and began to behave erratically and aggressively.
Frightened, the woman coaxed O’Heir onto the verandah, where he calmed down and produced a knife and sheath, which he placed down beside her.
When another friend arrived, the pair moved into the garage to work on a motorbike and the woman called police.
O’Heir also faced a charge of having custody of a knife in public and was placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond.
The prison sentence began from O’Heir’s arrest in September 2017 and his non-parole period ended on January 15.
Main Street fight
A Lithgow man was fined in Lithgow Local Court on January 11 after a fight near the Lithgow Hotel late last year.
Ben Bott, 20, of Lithgow was fined $220 for coming back into the vicinity of a licenced premises from which he had been excluded within six hours.
He had been ordered to leave the Lithgow Hotel by police at about 10.10pm on December 1 last year. At midnight, he attempted to enter the Grand Central Hotel but was barred from doing so.
The court heard Bott was then involved in a “violent altercation” about 30 metres from the Lithgow Hotel, which police used capsicum spray to break up. Two men were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries sustained.
Drug possession
Blackheath man Robert William Farnsworth, 34, was fined $110 in Lithgow Local Court for possession of three grams of cannabis. The drug had been found on him during a police search at Lithgow on August 24 last year.
South Bowenfels man Timothy Stieger, 30, also faced Lithgow Local Court on January 11 on a drug possession charge. He had been found with 0.1 gram of cannabis in Lithgow on November 18 and was fined $150.
Damage
Lithgow man Ricky Thomas was fined $330 for breaking the window of a caravan belonging to a family member on January 1 this year. He was placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond for contravening the terms of an apprehended violence order.
