With the 96th Annual Rydal Show coming up early next year on Saturday 3rd February 2018, we are looking for young local women to enter and represent Rydal. If you are aged 17-23 and have ever thought have entering the Showgirl Competition then now is the time to consider it.
Our Showgirl Competition aims to find a young woman with an interest or involvement in her local rural community. The competition encourages the participation in and awareness of young women's contribution and involvement in both local communities and rural NSW as a whole.
The competition is also beneficial to the girls who are willing to enter and support their local community: In addition to gaining valuable life skills, girls extend their social network and typically tend to make life-long friends from the competition.
An added bonus is that a number of lovely prizes are donated by our local sponsors. Generous prizes are offered to entrants from our sponsors Jenolan Caves, Prudence Schwarz Dance Academy, Rapture Hair Salon, Silhouette Beauty Salon, Wallerawang Post Office and the Zig Zag Motel. The Rydal Show Society also provides a Personal Development Weekend to the winning Showgirl to help her prepare for the Zone Final and the coveted David Martin Memorial Prize is also presented annually to the winning Showgirl.
Rydal has been involved in the Showgirl Movement for over 50 years and many young women over this time have greatly benefited from their involvement in this competition.
During the last 4 years, two Rydal Showgirls have been successful at their Zone Finals and gone on to compete in the State Final in Sydney. Our 2016 Showgirl Isabel Hawken in fact was placed 2nd runner-up in the 2017 Royal Easter Showgirl Competition. Our 2017 Rydal Showgirl Alana Black has had a wonderful year as Rydal Showgirl and is looking forward to representing her local community in the 2018 Zone Final later next February.
Contact Margie Lowe on 0407 593 344 as soon as possible if you would like further information on how to enter the 2018 Rydal Showgirl Competition.
