First grade
Hampton v La Salle
Hampton and La Salle played a quick Twenty20 match and the Hornets were tasked with batting first.
La Salle only managed to reach 7/99 in their innings, which Hampton easily chased down. The men in green and white finishing on 3/101 in the 16th over.
Lachlan Yates and Aaron Manton top scored for the Hornets with 25 runs apiece however Manton was unbeaten at the end of the 20 overs.
Four of Hampton's bowlers claimed two wickets from their four overs including Jai Risby (2-20), Sam Miller (2-23) and J Monaghan (2-10).
Risby also anchored the chase with an aggressive 70 not out at the top of the innings. His knock included seven fours and two sixes.
Connor Brown, Will Hutchison and Dave Wheeler grabbed a wicket each for La Salle.
Lithgow Hotel v Portland
Portland could only muster 9/91 from their innings and it simply wasn't enough as Lithgow Hotel reached 3/92 in the 23rd over.
The Portland innings was on the back foot straight away as Brayden McCann was caught off the bowling of Jon Cronin with the third ball of the match.
Stephen Bender (23) and Mitchell Bionda (16) were the brightest points on a pretty bleak scoresheet for Portland.
Cronin was sensational with the ball for Hotel as he finished with 3-14 from his 8 overs. Matt McManus also bowled well as he grabbed 2-13.
In reply Michael Hutchinson compiled a neat 41 not out in the number one slot to help his side home.
Mikk Mlanric and Jon Cronin were the next best with 16 runs each.
Joel Cameron was Portland's best with the ball with 2-22 from his 8 overs.
Second grade
Lidsdale v Lithgow Hotel 2
Lidsdale were first at the crease and they were eventually all out with a competitive 186 on the board.
It proved too much for Lithgow Hotel who were bowled out 59 runs short, all out for 117 after 28 overs.
Nick Bender batted well to grab a half century. He finished on 57 not out with Blake Caldwell the next best on 36.
Jason Murray (3-32 off 8 overs) and Shannon Clarke (3-27 off 8) were Hotel's best with the ball.
Ashley Taylor also chipped in with 2-15 off 4 overs. Col McCann was economical as ever as he conceded just 17 runs from his 8 wicketless overs.
A series of single digit scores kicked off the Hotel innings until Jason Murray came to the crease with his side 4-33.
He finished on 59 not out while his side crumbled around him. Dylan Taylor (12) was the only other batsman to reach double figures.
Three of the final four bats fell for ducks.
Blake Caldwell was the main destroyer with 5-14 off 6 overs while Dominic Dellabosca claimed 4-32 from his 7 overs.
La Salle v Hampton
In another Twenty20 fixture, La Salle were victorious despite a hat-trick from Hampton's Jared Duff.
It was mighty close though with the Hornets eclipsing Hampton’s 114 all out in the final over to finish on 4/116.
Batting first, Hampton’s Rob Arnott (35) and Alan George (20) top scored for their side but their teammates struggled to give them the support they needed.
Todd Walsh (3-8 off 3) and Luke Thompson (3-26 off 3) were La Salle's best with the ball.
La Salle’s chase was punctuated by solid scores from openers Anthony Brown (57) and Michael Wren (37).
Duff then did some damage with the ball. First he bowled Wren with the final ball of his second over and also wrecked the Brown's stumps with the first ball of his third over.
He completed his hat-trick by having Todd Walsh caught off the next ball. Duff was of course his side's best bowler with 3-17 off 4 overs but it wasn’t enough to seal the win.
Portland v Valley
Portland were skittled for 65 and Valley had no trouble chasing it down as they ended up on 2/69 in under nine overs.
Matt Williams (3-8 off 5 overs) and Graeme Clarke (3-10 off 5) were the main destroyers for Valley.
Sam Johnson and Dave Hartley also finished with two wickets each.
Justin Selman was Portland's best with the bat as he score 25. Peter Bourke was the only other to batsman to reach double figures with 12.
Valley's chase got off to a shaky start with both Riley Bell and Sam Johnson out for zero leaving the score at 2/5.
Then regular first-grader Andrew Fawbert came to the crease and smacked a quickfire 49 to finish off the contest.
His innings included four boundaries, three sixes and just one single.
Wayne McCann claimed 2-17 off 4 overs with the ball.
Down in the duck pond
La Salle's Richard Wheeler failed to score before he had his castle knocked over by Hampton's J Monaghan.
In the reply Hampton's Jayden Hardie was knocked over for nought, bowled by La Salle's Will Hutchison.
The Portland innings was on the back foot straight away as Brayden McCann was caught off the bowling of Jon Cronin with the third ball of the match.
Trystan Ford came in at number 11 for Portland and he didn't last long at the crease. He was out for a golden duck, caught off the bowling of Matt McManus.
In second grade Lithgow Hotel 2's lower order were keen to have a swim in the pond with three bats falling for ducks.
Shannon Clarke, Matt Conlon and Cass Holyoake all fell to the bowling of Blake Caldwell in quick succession.
Hampton's Brad Kay failed to add to his team's total before he was bowled by La Salle's Todd Walsh.
Portland also contributed three ducks in their game against Valley.
First Jared Young was caught on zero off the bowling of Matt Williams in the first over of the game.
Then both Troy Chalmers and Dean Cornish were bowled without scoring by Graeme Clarke in quick succession later in the innings.
