Lithgow drummers Mel Besley and Stephanie Durie will be playing alongside rock royalty, Sir Paul McCartney, for the second time at the Qudos Bank Arena on Tuesday night, December 12.

They will perform as part of the song ‘Mull of Kintyre’ onstage. This latest performance follows their first appearance on Monday night, December 11, when they played in front of 18,000 people.
The two Lithgow drummers were invited to form part of the ensemble band for the performance, formed by Governor Macquarie Memorial Pipe Band president and musical director Barry Gray.

Barry said two more tenor drummers were needed for the show.
“So we put our heads together and Stephanie and Mel were invited to come along,” he said.
Barry has played with the former Beatle before and was arranging bands to play with Sir Paul in every performance around Australia and New Zealand during this tour.
He said the atmosphere was “electric” at Qudos Bank Arena on Monday night.
“Most pipers are fully seasoned, they’ve all played with John Farnham before,” Barry said.
“But drummers are not used so often and they were probably a bit nervous. But [Sir Paul] came and spoke to everyone backstage beforehand and settled everyone down.
“It was a great night.”
