Police came across large amounts of cash and goods they suspected to have been unlawfully obtained after two incidents that occurred in Lithgow on Thursday, December 7.

At 8.45am police stopped a 36-year-old Mudgee man driving towards Sydney on the Great Western Highway near Lithgow. He was driving an unregistered and uninsured car.
Police searched his vehicle and found a bag containing $60,050 in cash and a mobile phone.
Inside the bag the cash was split into a further six bags containing $10,000 each (and one containing $10,050) in $50 and $100 notes.
Police seized the money. The man has not yet been charged with an offence.
Later in the day, at approximately 4pm, police were called to Lithgow Valley Plaza to speak to two women who were behaving suspiciously.
Police stopped and searched the women, who were found to have $40,130 in cash on their person.
The police then asked the 34-year-old and 37-year-old women to take them to their car, which was searched. The car contained a number of goods from shops in Western Sydney with a combined value of $13,572.
The women had only purchased the car two days before for $21,000 paid in cash.
Police seized the car, its contents and the cash, which amounted to a total worth of $75,702.
The women, who were from Wellington, were charged with goods in custody. Police suspect the cash and goods were stolen or obtained unlawfully.
The women will appear at Lithgow Local Court in late January.
Licence suspended
A 24-year-old Wallerawang man has had his licence suspended after he was charged for driving with a mid-range PCA.
Police stopped his car on Main Street, Lithgow, at 11pm on Wednesday, December 6, because of the man’s manner of driving.
The man was arrested and taken to Lithgow Police Station where he returned a positive reading in a breath analysis.
He will appear at Lithgow Local Court early next year.
Bong and cannabis found
Police stopped a 27-year-old woman driving along the Great Western Highway in Lithgow and searched her vehicle on Thursday, December 7.
They found seven grams of cannabis and a bong in the car, which was seized.
The woman was charged with possession of illicit drug and will appear at Lithgow Local Court early next year.
Break in
Police are investigating a break and enter incident at Redgate Street in the Vale of Clwydd.
An unknown person entered a property between midnight and 9.45am on Thursday, December 7, and stole a chainsaw.
Inquiries are continuing.
