Kicking off Saturday, December 2 there is an official ‘Lighting of the Tree’ at Mick Moore Park in Wolgan Street, town lights and entertainment provided by St Joseph’s school choir.
Gather at Saville Park on Saturday December 9 for Carols by Candlelight at 7.30pm.
Businesses will trade outdoors the following Saturday, December 16 from 9am-1pm followed by a free screening of the ‘The Santa Clause’ by Portland Film at 1.30pm.
At 5pm a Christmas Street Festival will be held on December 21 down Wolgan Street, concluding at 8.30pm. Portland Golf Club will hold a lantern walk around the golf course in the evening.
Portland’s month-long festival is an initiative of the new Portland Business Association.
“There are goals and plans in place and we’re hoping to build it year by year,” Andrew Neville, Portland Business Association president, said.
