The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 1.30pm on Friday, November 17 for districts across a wide area of NSW.
“Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Armidale, Orange, Goulburn, Tamworth, Bourke and Lightning Ridge,” the warning stated.
The State Emergency Service has advised that people should move their cars from under cover or away from trees; secure or put away loose items; keep at least 8m away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences; unplug computers and appliances; avoid using the phone during the storm; and stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
