The four semi finalists in the Lithgow City Men’s Bowling Club fours title chase have nearly been decided. Three more games were completed on the weekend of November 11 and 12 with Kerry Clarke, Peter Rutherford, Bob Kiernan and Ritchie advancing a stage further with a hard won 24-18 victory over Davie Hunter, Wayne Allan, Bill Anderson and Richard Forbes on Saturday November 11.

Clarke and company appeared set for a comfortable victory when they held a 20-10 lead, but winning four consecutive ends put Davie Hunter back into the picture when they trailed 18-20. Clarke held his poise to win the final two ends for his 24-18 win.
Jeff Madden bounced back to form, skipping Al Kenniff, Gary Sutherland and Gary Bender to a commanding 36-7 win over Warren Kennedy, Geoff Brookes, Ted Healey and Bill Cullen. Such was the commanding win, Madden conceded only five ends during the course of the 21-end affair,
November 12 was a closer match up when Scott Achurch, Jim Kelly, Paul Crane and Barry Achurch were never headed after they hit the lead on the fifth end. Jim Lahache, Bob Ritchie, Joe Banasiak and Jacob McAndrew fought back to level the scores on the 15th end, but could only score a solitary single shot on the remaining six ends to eventually go down 12-18. Madden and his team also took the major prizemoney for the Sunday games, with the Achurch skipped team taking the minor spoils.
Tuesday, November 14 saw the first for the mixed twilight bowls. Lesley Hampton teamed with Warren Kennedy and J Gurney to top the field with 10+18, the minor money going to Stan Campbell, Inga Irvine and Sheila Jordan with 9+13.
November 11 men’s event went to two pairs teams, Athol Roach and Bruce Gibbons setting up their win with an early charge that saw them lead 23-1 early in the game before returning to the clubhouse with a final 14+22 margin. A 13+9 scoreline from John Perry and Doug Smith gave them the minor prize money.
In the mixed event on November 10, C Wotton, Dani Maruschko and June Barnes came out on top with 13+10, the minor spoils going to Fay King, Don Kenniff and Col Quince with 12+4.
The men’s twilights on November 9, Kerry Clarke and Ritchie Bilby combined for the best card of the afternoon with 10+14, counting out the 10+6 from Davie Hunter, Ron Simmons and Doug Smith.
