The work was prompted by reports of a brick falling onto the public footpath which raised public safety concerns.
A structural engineers report verified that remedial repair work was required to be carried out to rectify defective brickwork.
The project involves the removal of the existing metal parapet and parapet brickwork.
It will then be replaced with a steel frame and steel cladding, hopefully preventing any brick falls in the future.
Dimmeys commissioned the remedial work after council had actively pursued the retail store company for some time.
The work is being carried out by contractor DSL Construction and Renovation Pty Ltd and is scheduled to be completed in December 2017.
