Remembrance Day is this Saturday, November 11,  commemorating the 99th anniversary of the Armistice that ended the World War I.

Lithgow

The Lithgow City RSL sub-branch’s Remembrance Day commemorations will be held in Queen Elizabeth Park, Lithgow, from 10.45am on Saturday, November 11 for a minute of silence at 11am.

“The branch’s president will say a few words and the Lithgow City Band will be down there. The army cadets will hopefully be providing a catafalque and flag party,” sub-branch secretary Michael Cuthbert said.

Gary Johnson will be attending the event with the Union Jack flag raised at the Beersheba Post Office after the historic light horse charge on October 31, a hundred years ago. His grandfather, Alfred Johnson, served in the brigade.
