Hampton’s Matt Palmer opened the batting and scored half his side’s runs making 73 before he was caught off the bowling of Jordan Smith.

Twin scores of 13 were the next highest figures on the scoresheet, compiled by Rob Arnott and Sam Miller.

La Salle’s Brock Barry was the best with the ball with his 4/23 off 6.3 overs.

The Hornet’s innings would have been a sorry sight as five batsmen were dismissed without troubling the scorers.

Richard Wheeler was the only player to reach double figures with 10.

Matt Palmer was Hampton’s best bowler as he claimed 3/16 off 8 finishing a great allround effort.

Rob Gracey and Jake Monaghan both snagged 2/4 off 3 overs.

Lithgow Hotel set an imposing total of 5/228 off their 40 overs and Portland were never in the hunt, bowled out for 78 in 26 overs.

Duel sport star Brandan Horner pumped a great 110 for Hotel before he was stumped. Horner also plays for the Lithgow Panthers premier league hockey side.

Josh Blanchard was the next highest scorer with 48.

Isaac Fardell was Portland’s best with the ball with 2/18 off 8 overs.

Fardell (13) and Brayden McCann (17) got their side off to solid start with the bat as they shared a partnership of 29.

But it was all downhill from there as Nic Taylor (3/28 off 8) and Clint Rochester (4/19 off 8) ran riot.

The undoubted hero of the day was La Salle’s opening batsman Anthony Brown with his outstanding 154 not out.

Brown’s big century led the Hornet’s to an imposing total of 8/217 and Lithgow Hotel never looked a chance of chasing it down, they were bowled out for a measly 38 runs in the 19^th over.

In all, Brown hit 21 boundaries and two sixes in his bruising innings. His final score of 154 was 140 runs more than the next highest score of 14.

Most of the Hotel bowlers received some punishment however Mark Thomas (3/54 off 7 overs), Kobe Hunter (2/6 off 3) and Terry Ford (2/38 off 8) managed to snag some wickets.

With only nine players Lithgow Hotel batting scorecard was a sorry sight with no batsman able to reach double figures.

La Salle’s Todd Walsh had a field day as he claimed 5/11 off 8 overs. Fellow opening bowler Chris Isley also performed well with the ball as he grabbed 2/13 off 5.

Valley set what looked to be a strong total reaching 9/197 off their 40 overs. But it wasn’t enough as Lidsdale chased down the runs in a canter finishing on 7/202 in the 33^rd over.

Jarred Inzitari top scored for Valley with 53 from first drop and Graeme Bell chipped in with a solid 28.

Lidsdale’s Harry Bender shared the new ball with Blake Caldwell and bowled tightly to claim 2/15 off 8 overs.

Phil Wright came into the attack later in the innings. He copped some tap but also grabbed a few wickets on his way to 4/46 off 7.

Wright then opened the batting for Lidsdale and set a solid foundation with 61 before he was stumped off the bowling of Jon Reid.

He shared a 97 run partnership with top scorer Sam Rushworth who scored 87 taking the Lions most of the way home.

Dave Hartley bowled well for his 4/25 off 7.1 overs.

This match-up presented the closest contest of the round as Lithgow Hotel finished all out on 96, just short of Hampton’s total of 100.

Hampton’s Jack Bilby top scored for his side with 32 and his brother Ryan chipped in with 18.

Colin McCann bowled tightly for Hotel as he picked up 2/8 off his 8 overs.

Hotel’s chase got off to a fast start with McCann whacking three fours in his innings of 16.

Jason Murray provided the only other real resistance with 17 before Hotel were bowled out four runs short in the 21^st over.

Jack Bilby took home the game ball as he claimed 5/45 off 8 overs.

This week’s duck pond was very close to running out of room as five La Salle first graders waddled down to the water.

The opening pair of Hayden Wren and Jordan Smith kicked off the Hornet’s sharing a partnership of zero at the top of the order.

They were followed by Adam Lewis, Will Hutchinson and Mark Wren who also scored duck eggs.

Opponents Hampton didn’t miss out on the misery as Jayden Hardie and John Farr also notched up scores of zero.

Lithgow Hotel’s Mikk Mlinaric was the only other first grader to be out for none, caught off the bowling of Portland’s Joel Cameron.

In second grade La Salle’s Luke Thompson and Luke Brown rode on the coat tails of Anthony Brown’s big century.

Both the Lukes failing to trouble the scorers as they were dismissed by Mark Thomas and Kobe Hunter respectively.

Their opponents Lithgow Hotel 1 also featured to ducks as Quentin Kidd opened the innings with a nice round score as he was bowled by Todd Walsh.

Kidd was followed later by Mark Thomas who caught off the bowling of Chris Isley for zero.

Valley’s Mick Inzitari suffered the unfortunate fate of being runout without scoring as did Hampton’s Matt Tuxford.

Lidsdale’s Alexander Jackson couldn’t score before he had his castle knocked over by Dave Hartley.
