A host of local golfers were away on the Gold Coast but while they were enjoying the warm weather, those who took to the course in Lithgow were turning up the heat with some hot scoring.
The big news of the day was a four under par 68 by the big hitting Tony Oldfield.
Olfield’s round saw him take out A grade. His round included five birdies and an eagle on the par five fifth hole.
His 47 points would even be good enough to give a two ball competition a shake.
“It was one of those rounds where everything went well for me,” Oldfield said.
Second place went to Troy Luka with an impressive 40 points.
The excellent scores kept coming in B grade with Jeff Geddes also hitting top form with a score of 44 points. The runner up voucher went to Laurie Northey on 43 points on a countback from Paul Bosman.
C grade saw the dominance of Peter Thompson continue, he has kept the handicapper busy over the past month with a series of wins.
Thompson finished with the good score of 43 with the runner up being Rob George on 42.
The best scratch scores went to the grade winners with Oldfield 39, Geddes 32 ocb and Thompson 20 ocb.
Nearest the pins went to Dick Mara, Paul Bosman, Laurie Northey, Jeff Geddes and Tony Oldfield.
Other golfers to play well and figure in the ball competition were Paul Bosman, Rob Hawes, Mitch Luka, Dick Mara and Geoff Brooks.
The great scoring over all was shown by the fact that balls cut out on 41 ocb.

Runner up on 26 points was Jeff Geddes.
Ball winners were Mark Pearce, Paul Stewart and Dave Duroux.
