Major McLaughlin lost his life at Passchendaele 100 years ago on November 1917.
Both Tarella Cottage Museum and the Hobby’s Reach Research Centre will be open this weekend, Saturday, October 28 and Sunday, October 29 between 10am and 4pm at 99 Blaxland Road Wentworth Falls.
There will be a special exhibition featuring Geoffrey McLaughlin’s life and war experiences in both Tarella and the Research Centre.
On Saturday, October 28 at 2.30 pm, a formal ceremony will be held on the Tarella property to commemorate the life, military service and death of Major Geoffrey McLaughlin.
Major General Tim Ford AO (Retd) will dedicate the memorial to Major McLaughlin, while Mr Paul Innes will present the Remembrance Stones. A Rifle Salute, the playing of the Last Post, a Minute’s Silence and the recital of The Ode, For the Fallen, will conclude the ceremony.
Entry to the exhibitions and Tarella cottage will be $5 for adults and $2 for children. Morning and afternoon teas will be available for a small donation on Sunday, October 29, when the garden stall will also be open.
