It has been an exciting 2017 for Lithgow Public School, with a highlight coming in September when it was recognised with a Minister's and Secretary's Awards for Excellence in education.
Mrs O’Rourke will be taking up the post of principal at Eglinton in 2018. She said the school was an obvious move, as she is a resident of Bathurst.
“I feel that our school (Lithgow Public) is in a really good spot,” she said.
“The students are happy and settled and the staff are doing amazing things.”
Mrs O’Rourke said the time felt right to allow someone to come in and start with new energy. She has been in the chair at LPS since July 2014.
“The highlight for me has been the amazing staff and kids,” she said.
“It is one of the most future-focused teams I have ever been part of, with everyone working together. I've always seen that my role is to enable – and through the team work of the staff, right through the stages, K-6, the teacher’s aides, the office staff… they are doing great things.
“There is such creativity in the staff here.”
Lithgow Public School will now begin the recruitment process to appoint a new principal for 2018.
