Mental health services will be present at the expo, which will also offer speeches, entertainment and light refreshments between 10am-2pm.
At 12.15pm Kim Scanlon and council community development officer Viktoria Gulabovski will host a community round table discussion on suicide.
“So as an expo there will be a variety of stallholders coming from various areas including physical health, mental health and the spiritual dimensions of mental health. So there will be mainstream as well as alternatives services represented like meditation and art therapists,” Ms Gulabovski said.
A series of speeches on the theme of managing mental health will kick off after 10am.
“Reverend Matt Trounce will be talking about managing grief and loss, a consumer representative will talk about their personal experience of mental health and addiction.”
A representative from Lithgow Community Mental Health will also speak about accessing services in the Lithgow district.
A light lunch will be served at 12pm, after some musical entertainment.
Mayor Stephen Lesslie said the council's mental health expo was brought about by the fact that Lithgow has one of the highest rates of people with mental health illness in regional NSW.
“By hosting an expo we hope to provide information and support for a wide range of mental health issues, and connect people to services that are available locally,” he said.
