Brooke Cornwell of Wallerawang starred in Bathurst’s musical ‘Rock of Ages’ last year, but she has never had the chance to work on a professional film set before. That is, until a retro bus pulled up on Wallerawang’s Main Street and with it the cast and crew of a new online horror series ‘Patricia Moore’.

“It’s just non-stop, it’s crazy,” Ms Cornwell said of the set-up in Blackberry Lane.
Ms Cornwell took the day off work on Thursday, September 28, to appear as an extra in the series, dressed as an attendee of a school formal.
“I emailed at the beginning of the week, and then got the call and I thought, ‘right I’m getting the dress and heels out of the cupboard’”.
Assistant director Michael Knott estimated that around 20 residents had the opportunity to be extras over the week of filming in Wallerawang.
“The locals of Lithgow have really got behind us, there’s so many great characters here,” Mr Knott said.
“I guess the circus comes to town and everyone wants to be part of it, and we are so happy to have them.”
‘Patricia Moore’ is a new online horror series made to be watched on a smartphone. Each episode of the series is only ten minutes long and will be released on video streaming app ‘Blackpills’ early next year.
“I have written mostly short films. This was originally going to be a feature-length production but then we got interested in the digital series format,” writer Blake Fraser said.
“It’s been a long love project for me, it’s really exciting to be able to reach new audiences.”
Mr Fraser, who lives in Sydney, said Wallerawang suited the town he had in mind when writing the script.
“My family comes from central Otago (NZ) and it has a similar feel. I feel a sense of community and there’s such magical colours.”
The series follows a family on the run, living out of an old bus. One complication in the life of the Moores is that they can only feed on humans.
“It’s a family drama that just happens to be about cannibals,” actor Danielle Cormack (Underbelly, Rake) said, who plays Patricia Moore’s mother Marnie.
“We are cannibals with a moral compass,” actor Les Hill said.
How can we be sure they won’t eat the locals?
“Well, we are getting our food from the Tin Shed, so unless they are slipping in humans…,” Mr Hill laughed.
