There was plenty of action on the field on Saturday, September 16, when the top junior hockey teams in the Lithgow competition met in the competition’s two grand finals.

A brisk wind was blowing, but it did not faze the players or their supporters, who rugged up against the chill and settled in to watch two competitive games as the wrap-up of the junior competition for 2017.
In the Primary division, Workies Gold took on the Jays.
Spectators were treated to a fantastic game of hockey by both teams, bringing out their best.
The Jays were able to slot two goals past the Workies Gold defence, securing the win.
Congratulations to the Jays, who took out the silverware as 2017 Primary grand final winners.
Workies White was too good for the Jays in the secondary match at Lithgow.
The match could have been anyone’s, with just one goal separating the teams at the final whistle, 1-0.
It was a fantastic game of hockey to watch, with both teams playing some of their best hockey of the season.

At the presentations following the matches, awards were passed out, recognising the players’ contributions.
Primary Sportsperson of the Year was Nathan Marshall.
High School Sportsperson of the Year was Ashley Robinson.
Primary Goalie of the Year was Molly Robinson.
High School Goalie of the Year was Brenna Croker.
The high achievers for the 2017 season were named as Rylee Millar, Brenna Croker, Kelsie Whyte and Emily Thompson.
Umpire awards went to Mackenzie Stuart and Ashley Luka.
Umpire service award were handed out to Mal Boydon and Mick McGrath.
