Work on the $4.8 million Cullen Bullen sewerage project is set begin in the near future after the final approval was granted by the NSW government this week.

The multi-million dollar water project was announced in January however residents have had to wait several months to see the ball start to roll on the planned upgrades.
The improvements are set to deliver a sewer collection network that will move wastewater from each local residence to the new Cullen Bullen wastewater treatment plant replacing the current deficient septic tank systems.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the project would provide significant benefits for the Cullen Bullen community.
“The upgrades will provide a modern sewerage drainage system and treatment plant, replacing existing deficient, ageing and malfunctioning septic tank systems,” he said.
“We also expect to see new local employment opportunities and the expansion of local industry and businesses as a result of the upgrades, both through construction and ongoing operation.”
Prior to work starting Lithgow Council is required to sign off the funding deed with Infrastructure NSW, which is anticipated to happen shortly.
Once the deed has been finalised, survey and design work can begin followed by the call for tenders and construction.
In July, Lithgow council operations manager Iain Stewart said he hoped the project would be completed by the end of 2019 if no major problems arose.
