It was a magnificent weekend for Lithgow Golf Club champion Andrew Burton as he took out the Saturday club event and then backed up his excellent form the next day to win the Blue Mountains Championship at Oberon.

It was a good tournament for Lithgow golfers with Burton leading the way as he returned an excellent 69 off the stick to claim the title.
Runner up was Johnathan Van-Veen with a credible 75, a good effort considering the class of golfers who were in attendance from the Blue Mountains clubs.
The Handicap winner in A grade was Max Nightingale with 71 nett. Nightingale also secured the Vets scratch title with 80.
Handicap runner up in B grade was Dick Mara who won the Super Vets event with 73 nett.
On Saturday on the home course the consistent Burton again showed his class winning the A grade section of the event with 39 points. His round was the best scratch score with 70.
This was a superb result considering the strong winds that ripped across the fairways.
Runner up was Anthony Boza with 35 points.
Best in B grade was Chris Marjoram on 39 points while the runner up was Scott Marjoram on 37 on a countback.
Frank Mantle had the best B grade scratch score with 81.
The days best stableford scores came out of C grade with the inform Dean Stafford finishing with 41, one better than runner up Ray Thompson who also had the best scratch score with 89.
Nearest the pins went to Justin Neilson, Peter Thompson, Ray Thompson, Dave Titcome and Rob Ritchie.
Balls cut out on 34 points neat.
Hole in one
Other news from the week was a hole in one scored on Wednesday, September 13 by Jeff Geddes on the second hole making it 'ace' number three.
Holden scramble
The annual Holden Scramble four person Ambrose event is set down for Sunday, October 15. Those intending to compete can record their team with club professional Garry Nightingale.
Nominations close on September 30.
Those playing are encouraged to hand in their nominations early so organisers can decide whether the event will be for locals only.
Friday event
Michael Casey is becoming a regular winner in this event and again took the major voucher with a score of 24 points. Runner up was Brian Giblett on 23.
