A new event at the club during October, catering specifically for those bowlers aged 60 and over. Called The Golden Oldies, the format will be five games of two-bowl triples over two days on Thursday and Friday, October 19 and 20. When first proposed the event had a prize pool of nearly $4000, but this has grown substantially since then. The popularity of such a format has paid dividends with the nomination sheet attracting strong interest from clubs throughout the Lithgow area.

Social bowls: Last weeks men’s event on August 30 attracted one of the biggest fields since last summer where Mick Wholohan showed his versatility playing as a skip for Jack Bennett and Kevin Hailstone to take top money with 14+14, beating out the 13+15 turned in by Dave Robson and Herman Kozell.
September 1 mixed event brought a score of 13+10 by Col Wotton and Beryl Baker which gave them the top prize from Mick Wholohan (once again playing as skip) and Don Kipp’s 10+6.
The men’s event the next day went to Peter Rutherford, Graham Johnson and Barry Achurch with a mammoth 16+28, with 12+8 for second spot for Al Kenniff and Greg Quinn. Davie Hunter, Kevin Thomas and Rod King combined for a 10+9 score on Sunday September 3 for the top spot, narrowly ahead of the 10+2 result for Col Wotton, Ritchie Bilby and Gloria Clarke.
