The event officially gets underway on Saturday for members of the public, with seven open gardens to be held throughout the four days of the festival, September 9-10 and September 16-17.
Mr Marnie said he had been impressed by the community spirit shown by Rydal, not only in making the most of its beauties, but in fundraising for local works, including Three Tree Lodge and the Women and Children Crisis Centre, Lithgow.
“I’ve been welcomed here since 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon and treated like royalty. I’ve been up to meet garden owners, I’ve seen the efforts up around the showground, at the showgirl path," he said.
“And one of the things that strikes me is that we are losing community nowadays but you guys have it in bucketloads.”
Members of the community and guests were invited to the official opening at midday on Tuesday.
