The new deal locks in 20-year-old hooker’s future with the Panthers until at least the end of the 2019 season and should see him succeed Peter Wallace as the club’s number 9.
“I’m very excited and grateful to have taken another step towards my dream of playing NRL for the Panthers,” Egan told the Penrith Panthers website.
“It was an easy decision to re-sign with the club.
“We’ve got the best facilities in the NRL and fantastic coaching staff who have already given me so many great opportunities.”
The Lithgow Storm junior first joined the Penrith side in 2015 as a part of the Panthers SG Ball squad.
He broke into the under 20s team the following year and was announced as a co-captain of the NYC side in 2017.
Egan became the first hooker in Holden Cup history to score four tries in a game during his side’s 38-16 win over the New Zealand Warriors in May.
So far this season he has scored 16 tries and laid on 14 try assists in 18 appearances in the NYC.
He has also made a step up to the senior Intrust Super Premiership side grabbing four tries and four try assists from five games.
The Penrith Panthers currently sit second on the Holden Cup ladder with one round to go before the finals.
