Lithglo was launched in a blaze (make that ‘a glow’) – of success but lost its way a bit with new directions.
Getting back to the Lithglo roots could well give us another claim to special events fame with Halloween and Ironfest, even if Bathurst has been stealing some of our after dark thunder.
It’s a numbers game
SO you thought it was confusing when a record field of around 46 hopefuls rocked up for last years Lithgow Council general election?
Then spare a thought for the electors of Orange who have to sift through a swarm of 88 candidates for their upcoming deferred election.
After the political upheaval and soul searching after the State by-election in Orange there will be many watching with more than usual interest.
Dwindling resources
HAS it been last drinks for another Lithgow pub?
The Tatts Hotel has been closed lately and word in the trade is that it has gone into receivership, albeit apparently with some residential tenants remaining.
The once popular pub has had an on again/off again trading routine for some time with the latest gloomy turn of events matched only by the gloomy external paint job.
Many with long memories still lament the fact that a bid by Woolworths to acquire Tatts for a Main Street frontage years ago never went ahead.
It doesn’t seem that long ago that Lithgow had eight flourishing pubs in and around the CBD.
At the weekend there were just four operating.
The trees have it
IT might not look like it after the ongoing events of recent times but spring really is just about bustin’ out all over.
The blossoms adoring the trees around the place are right on cue, signifying the hopefully imminent demise of what has been a particularly unpleasant winter.
You can blame the combination of an unusually persistent wind chill and the cloudless sky that brought frost after frost after frost.
