Minkies
With only two weeks left of the Minkies, the little die hard hockey players did not let the freezing conditions get in the way of their hour of play and skills.
Even though the wind was freezing the Minkies all made the most of their time on the field on Saturday.
Primary
Jays 3 def Workies Gold 0
Despite the freezing conditions this was an action packed game with both teams working tirelessly to the end.
This week saw Workies Gold down several players. Despite only having ten on the field, they held out Jays from scoring until the final minutes of the first half.
Jays then fought hard after the break to nab two more goals to take the game 3-0.
Goal scorers for Jays were Hayden Rodham, Riley Hart and Nathan Marshall.
Workies Gold never lost faith in themselves and played a brilliant game this week, despite being defeated.
It would be unfair to name standout players this week for Workies as they all put in a 110 per cent effort.
Secondary
Workies White 4 def Workies Gold 1
This was great game played in freezing weather.
It was a close contest in the first half as Brenna Croker pulled out several great saves for Gold.
However Workies White improved in the second half to take the game away from their opponents.
Mitch Thompson was outstanding in attack and defence all match and was rewarded with two goals. Brooke Lewis and Kelsie Whyte also scored a goal each.
Ruby Thompson and Halle Roberts consistently tried hard all game.
Zoey Bulkeley has been showing improved skills every week in both her attacking strength and solid defence, producing great tackles.
Thank you to Snow Livingstone and Tom Thompson for coaching the team this week!
