It’s not quite the Hollywood Walk of Fame but the past and future leading ladies of the Rydal Show will have a permanent place on the freshly completed showgirl path.

The path winds up the hill towards the Rydal Showground and was the initiative of the Rydal Village Association, who funded the project.
“It’s nice to showcase all these rural women who have been quite instrumental in showcasing our area,” Rydal Show Society secretary Rachael Young said.
“It’s been a collaborative effort between the village association, the trust and the show society with volunteers to put the path down.”
A brick has been laid for each Rydal Showgirl from the competition’s beginning in 1965 to the present year.
Additional bricks have been added for girls who have gone on to higher honours.
Last year’s Rydal Showgirl Isabelle Hawken has received two additional bricks to recognise her achievements as a zone finalist and second runner up at the Royal Easter Show competition.
Ms Hawken was the first Rydal Showgirl to receive a sash in the Easter Show competition.
The path will be extended once every few years.
“Hopefully it’ll continue as long as the show and the showgirl competition continues,” Mrs Young said.
