Lithgow man charged with firearms offences after suffering gunshot wound

A 23-year-old Lithgow man will appear before Lithgow Local Court after suffering a gun shot wound to his left hand.

Police believe the wound was accidentally self-inflicted by a weapon similar to a pen gun.

The man was charged with the possession and use of an illegal firearm, possessing ammunition without a license and for not using a firearm safely.

Police received information of the man’s injuries on Monday, August 7 after he had been treated by paramedics and brought to Lithgow Hospital in an ambulance.

He was located by police on Thursday, August 10 at 9.30pm and arrested on firearms offences.

Bail was refused and the man will appear in court on Friday.
