A 38-year-old Lithgow man wanted on assault charges has escaped police even after being hit with capsicum spray.
Police attempted to apprehend the man at an address in Inner Crescent, Lithgow at 5.10pm on Thursday afternoon.
He became involved in a scuffle with police as the officers tried to restrain and arrest him.
Officers resorted to using capsicum spray, however the 38-year-old escaped and was still on the loose on Friday morning.
The man is wanted on a previous assault charge and after his latest run-in he is now wanted for assaulting police, resisting arrest and escaping lawful custody.
Drink driving charge
A 21-year-old Bathurst man has been charged with low range drink driving after being stopped for a random breath test in Main Street, Lithgow on Friday morning.
He returned a positive breath test reading at the RBT and a low range result at secondary test at Lithgow Police Station.
The man was also found in possession of a small amount of a powdered substance which is to be analysed by police.
He will appear before Lithgow Local Court at a later date.
Suspected stolen bike
A 39-year-old Lithgow woman will appear in Lithgow Local Court for possessing goods suspected of being stolen and for riding a bike without a helmet.
She was riding along Bent Street, Lithgow on Thursday morning, August 10 and unsuccessfully attempted to evade police.
While police conducted their enquiries they noticed the serial number had been removed from the bike.
When the woman was questioned, she provided an answer that led the officers to believe the bike may have been stolen.
