A vocal home crowd turned out to catch Addison Flynn’s last game for the Lazers before his return to America.
Flynn turned it on for the occasion with a personal tally of 29 points including a few impressive three-pointers.
The American import was well supported by the entire Lazers squad through their scoring, strong defence and solid rebounding.
Lithgow was off to a fast start in the first quarter and dominated at both ends of the court to take the period 31-15.
Springwood bounced back in the second period, tightening their defence and scoring a few sweet three-pointers.
However the Lazers took the lead into halftime 55-33.
An energised Scorchers outfit returned in the third quarter. Springwood mounted a short fightback to take the period 23-21.
But it was the Lazers who would stamp their authority on the game and show the basketball they are capable of as they took the final quarter 34-15.
The stand out players for Lithgow were Addison Flynn and Steve Smith who had his best game of the season to finish with 15 points.
Matt Hughes (13 points) ran the floor with a few fast breaks while Michael Cox and Adam Marjoram chipped in with 13 and 12 points respectively.
Ryley Hughes also added 10 points of his own while putting in an excellent defensive performance.
Lithgow’s premier basketball side will now look back on a year of ups and downs with several great showings mixed with a few failures.
To prepare for next year’s season the Lazers will need to be fully committed to training, being available for games and fitness.
The biggest bearing on the 2017 season was the early loss of big man John Fenton due to injury.
Fenton proved hard to replace with his work ethic at both ends of the court and ability to score around 20 points per game.
Lithgow Lazers would like to thank all their supporters for standing by them this season as well as their sponsors Lithgow Workies, Lean and Bennett Motors, The Old Exchange, LJ Hooker, Lithgow Mercury, Centennial Coal and 2LT Radio.
Senior and junior Lazers will have their presentation at Lithgow Workies at 7pm on Friday, August 4.
