The winners of the LJ Hooker Reg Cowden Memorial Sports Star of the Year Awards for the month of April and May 2017 have been announced by Lithgow City Council.

Mayor of Lithgow, Councillor Stephen Lesslie announced Brenna Croker and Rylee Millar (hockey) as joint winners of the Junior Award for April 2017.
Both girls were selected in under 15s Girls State Team and competed in the Australia National Championships receiving a bronze medal.
The Junior award for the month of May 2017 was jointly won by Sara Lane (baseball) and Lithgow under 15s Girls Hockey Team.
Sara is the first female baseball player from the region to be selected in the NSW Country Baseball Youth side. The NSW Country Youth Women’s side came fourth at the Women’s National Baseball Championships in Canberra.
Lithgow U15 Girls Hockey Team – Division 2 State Champions in the NSW State Championships in Wagga Wagga. They defeated ACT in the final to win gold. They were also U15 Western Conference Champions.
“Council extends its congratulations to all winners on their achievements, and further encourages the community and local sporting organisations to submit nominations for these awards,” said Mayor Lesslie.
