It was clear that Wallerawang was going to have a good day in Portland very early on Saturday afternoon, as the Warriettes dominated the Fillies in their New Era Cup league tag match.

It was a big day for both clubs, as the Portland Colts and the Wallerawang Warriors gathered together for an Old Boys match in conjunction with their New Era Cup round.
But before the Old Boys hit the field, the Warriettes reigned, showing they would continue to be a force to be reckoned with heading into the second half of the season and maintained their spotless record in 2017.
Warriors’ player to watch Meg Embelton scored two tries and kicked six from six to help the team to its 36-0 win over Portland.
It was another good team collaboration from the Warriettes. There was plenty of talk, encouragement and fire as they raced away in the first half to lead 18-0 at the break.
Kim Northey, Monique Millmore, Maddy Howarth and Ash Oldfield all took one try each.
Emma McGuinness, Caroline Johns and Charlee Drury made great metres out wide, while Mikayla Howarth was solid in defence. Marli-Jai Hyde and Gena Dray are improving in attack with every game.
“Over all an outstanding game by the girls,” coach Andrew Ward said.
“The girls have been training hard and teamwork is paying off. We are looking forward to playing Orange Barbarians this week at home.”
The Warriors will host the Barbarians this week. Warriettes kick off at 1pm and Warriors at 2.30pm. The Warriors would like to thank all the lovely people from Can Assist for their help with the canteen and on the gate.
