The winners were Ray Warren and Brian Stuart with runners up Mick McCann and Lesley Townsend.
Club members of the along with the ladies surprised long time member Fred Foye for his 90th birthday.
Fred has been a wonderful asset to the men's club and it was fitting that this milestone was recognised.
He was welcomed by ladies’ president Lesley Townsend and men's president Klaus Fegebank who both wishing him a happy 90th on behalf of their respective clubs.
Long time workmate and friend Bob Wren travelled from Malua Bay for the occasion. He recalled his memories of Fred with a touching tribute revealing Fred's happy go lucky nature and honest and sincere outlook on life.
In honour of his great contribution to Workies bowls, it was announced the future major pairs competition will be named after Fred.
Fred always has sweets in his pockets so was fittingly presented with a gift of a bowling bag filled with sweets.
A cake made by Rene Cambourne in the shape of a bowling green was cut and a delicious lunch was enjoyed by all.
Days like this don't just happen and many thanks to all members who contributed.
Special mention goes to Tom and Ellen Staines, Trevor Mills, Col Tattersall, the ladies club for supplying delicious cakes and slices, Rene Cambourne for the amazing cake and the Workmens Club for the great lunch.
Thank you to all members who played and also a few members who are on the sick list but still managed to come along and make it such a special day or Fred.
