But we need to now ask for a definitive answer from the Minister and the bureaucrats why the proposal came up in the first place.
It appears to be a classic case of robbing Peter to pay Paul but could well be the tip of a very big iceberg lurking below the surface.
It's good to see Gosford going ahead but not at our expense.
Age has wearied them
THE problem may well have been resolved by the time today's column hits the streets but if not then some prompt action is required.
What we're talking about here the collection of now tatty wreaths still on the Lithgow war memorial since Anzac Day back in April. They're clearly way past their use by date and – dare we say – disrespectful. The faded tributes were still there at the weekend.
A job well done
THE biggest news for many of us at the weekend was the start of resurfacing of at least sections of the car parks at the Lithgow Valley Plaza.
The professional approach to the job this time was a far cry from the cheap and nasty (and largely ineffective) patching of the past.
For years it has been a jarring experience for shoppers even leading to a complaint earlier this year in Lithgow Council. Finally a very welcome, if long overdue, professional outcome.
The big chill
SO we're now officially into the Winter of '17 and Mother Nature has been quick to show us who's boss with the immediate plunge to colder than usual night time temperatures.
This surely a reminder that there are many in our community doing it harder than usual when winter bites and Vinnies and the Salvos are continuing to seek donations of blankets, rugs and warm clothing for all age groups.
It's a matter of survival for many so jump to it this week.
