With the help of local Lithgow business, Ms Dodson will be auctioning off 15 luxury items that have been donated to the ball, including beauty hampers, dinner vouchers and a weekend getaway.
“I can’t believe how good the community has been. The support from local business has been overwhelming,” she said.
“I did not even have to ask half of them, a lot of them just turned up and said we’d love to donate something.”
As the sister of a brain cancer patient who passed away in 2016, Ms Dodson is aiming to raise $10,000 for brain cancer research charity, the Mark Hughes Foundation.
Ms Dodson said people who cannot attend the ball have already donated over $1000 to her cause.
Paul ‘The Chief’ Harragon will present a speech on how brain cancer has impacted his own life.
“I want it to be a heartfelt celebration of life and raising awareness about brain cancer,” Ms Dodson said.
Tickets to the ball are still available and can be purchased at the Lithgow Workies reception or online at Eventbrite.
Ms Dodson asks all guests wear a beanie with their formal dress. Prizes will be given out for the most creative beanie.
“I’m creating my own beanie, adding to a beanie made by my mother. So it’s a beanie made with love,” Ms Dodson said.
- Doors will open at the Lithgow Workies on Friday at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
