Earlier this year Ms Carnegie, a Hartley local and mother to two children, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She started chemotherapy straight away and is awaiting results to see if she will need a double mastectomy and her ovaries removed.
A month after Ms Carnegie’s diagnosis her son Tyler had a brain hemorrhage, which required major surgery. He will require further surgery to prevent bleeds in the future.
A barbecue to raise money for the family’s medical bills will be held at Home & Hardware, Katoomba, on Saturday May 27 from 10am. An auction night will be held on the same day at Alexandra Hotel, Leura, from 5pm.
You can also donate to the cause on gofundme.
