Cooerwull Public School’s Connor Fitzpatrick and Brayden Drury will pit their skills against the best basketballers in the state after being chosen to represent the Western Region side.

The year six students will play at the NSW PSSA tournament in Goulburn in July.
Impressively, Brayden was able to prove his worth at last week’s trials in Cowra while suffering from a bout of Glandular fever.
“It was very tiring, I felt really sore after it but it was worth it. Definitely,” Brayden said.
The tall centre show his excellent guarding, shooting and rebounding skills while Connor, who plays as a guard, displayed great ball control, technique and outstanding distribution skills.
The boys also play for the Lithgow Lazers and gave themselves a good chance of performing well at the state competition.
“We’ve got a pretty strong team, pretty strong players on the team,” Brayden said.
The pair’s selection in the Western side capped off a bumper week in sport for CPS.
The Cooerwull boys cricket side qualified for the fourth round of the NSW PSSA knockout after defeating Mudgee Public at Watsford Oval.
Mudgee batted first but were only able to compiled 56 after some accurate CPS bowling and fielding.
Cooerwull lost an early wicket but the boys rallied and scored the runs off just 13 overs.
The team had previously defeated Lithgow Public and Wallerawang Public in their first two games.
The CPS boys softball team played in the Western final in Orange on Friday, May 26.
The side qualified for the final after defeating Bletchington, Narromine and Wellington convincingly on Monday, May 16.
Sharp fielding, shrewd base running, accurate hitting and pitching were the highlights of a well-oiled machine.
