People are gathering together, sharing a cup of tea and giving back to a good cause to mark the official day of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and help raise vital funds for Cancer Council NSW.
Now in its 24th year, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is one of Cancer Council’s leading fundraising events and the largest, most successful event of its kind in Australia.
Westfund Lithgow will be hosting an event at 120 Main Street from 10.30am.

The action continues this week, as Lithgow Library hosts its event on Thursday, May 25 between 10.30am and 12.00pm.
There will also be a range of private parties underway.
This year, Cancer Council NSW has aimed to recruit 11,100 morning tea hosts, including over 600 in the Central West region. It aims to raise more than $4.9 million across the state.
To mark the occasion, Cancer Council NSW has launched the Australia’s Biggest Morning TeaCookbook, with 29 recipes to inspire NSW residents to put the kettle on in support of the 1 in 2 Australians who will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85.
The cookbook is available to download for free online at www.cancercouncil.com.au/abmt-cookbook-2017.
“Every morning tea makes a difference. One Australian is diagnosed with cancer approximately every five minutes, the length of an average tea break,” Brianna Carracher, Communications and Events Coordinator at Cancer Council NSW’s Western office said.
“Today is all about making your cuppa count.”
Every amount raised, big or small, can go a long way. Just $15 allows Cancer Council to provide easy-to-understand information on treatments, practical advice and emotional support to cancer patients and their families. $50 makes sure there’s a cancer nurse available on 13 11 20 to offer information and support to callers.
