Kandos Museum and Lithgow State Mine Railway want the 7km of rail between Kandos and Rylstone to be re-opened to support tourist and event trains operating between the two towns and to bring visitors to the Kandos-Rylstone district.
“We have had a great response to our petition with over 1200 people lending their support in just over 6 weeks,” Buzz Sanderson, President of Kandos Museum Inc said.
“Kandos-Rylstone is a small community and re-opening this rail link would enable us to really lift the visitor economy.”

“We will be presenting our petition to Paul Toole at the end of the month. Paul has been a great support and we are hoping for a positive outcome,” Michael Wilson, chairman of Lithgow State Mine Railway said.
The re-opening of the line would see the start of the Kandos-Rylstone Rail Heritage Precinct project preserve and restore the three railway stations of Clandulla, Kandos and Rylstone.
