The scoreline was flattering for the Wolves with two late converted tries eventually putting some points on the board for Lithgow.
Workies were on the back foot early with Oberon putting pressure on the bigger Lithgow outfit from the kick-off.
Oberon was strong in defence as they had Lithgow pinned down deep in their territory for long periods of time.
The pressure told as with Tigers lock Blake Fitzpatrick going over in the seventh minute.
From then on it was all Oberon until the last ten minutes of the match.
Workies captain-coach Chris Rhodes said the Wolves needed to be wary of Oberon’s strength on the flanks and he was right.
The Tigers scored three of their five tries through wingers Blake Miller and Dan Qoriniasi with the former claiming a first-half double.
At one stage the score read 26-0 until Wolves backrower Corey Wilmott dotted the ball over the line in 70th minute.
This was followed up with a converted try to Jono van Veen to add more respectability to the scoreline.
The news was much more positive in first division and league tag.
In first division the Wolves got over the line 14-8 in closely fought match.
Workies scored the first points via a try to Michael Rennie half-way through the first-half and continued to play from the front for the rest of the game.
A try to Oberon’s Caylib Marston 15 minutes from fulltime brought the score to 14-8 but the Wolves held on to secure their first win of the year.
Michael Rennie finished with a double and Steven Mcmurtrie also scored for the Wolves.
The ladies League Tag side came away with a thumping 52-0 result over Oberon.
Chrissie West was dangerous as usual as she claimed an individual haul of 20 points including three tries and four conversions.
