Man dies in crash on Vale Road after police pursuit | Photos

9.30PM UPDATE: A 35-year-old has died in hospital following a police pursuit at South Bathurst today.

A critical incident investigation has been launched into the incident.

A stolen Hyundai SUV crashed near the intersection of Vale Road and Lloyds Road just after 1pm following a pursuit with police.

Two men, aged 35 and 33, suffered serious injuries and were taken by paramedics to Bathurst Hospital.

The 35-year-old man later died.

A critical incident team from Lachlan Local Area Command is investigating all circumstances surrounding the incident, including the pursuit.

That investigation will be subject to independent review.

No further details are available at this time.

3PM UPDATE: Police have issued the following media release in relation to this afternoon’s crash, confirming it involved a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle:

“A critical incident investigation has been launched after two men were injured after a police pursuit.

“Just after 1pm today (Wednesday, March 29), a stolen Hyundai SUV crashed following a pursuit with police.

“One man suffered critical injuries and another man suffered serious injuries. Both were taken by NSW Ambulance paramedics to Bathurst Hospital.

“A critical incident team from Lachlan Local Area Command will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident including the pursuit. That investigation will be subject to independent review.

“No further details are available at this time.”

EARLIER: Bathurst police and paramedics are now on the scene of a crash on the Vale Road.

Traffic is being diverted around the crash scene near the intersection of Lloyds Road.

Police say it is too early to comment on the circumstances of the crash but the Western Advocate understands it may have involved a police pursuit.

Two people have been injured in the crash.

The males, both in their 20s, were ejected from the vehicle.

Paramedics are treating one man for head injuries and he is listed as being in a stable condition.

Paramedics said the second man was in a serious condition but they would not detail his injuries.

An ambulance helicopter is among the resources to have been tasked to the crash.

A critical incident has been declared.
