“Everyone just used their own imagination for the dress ups and we had an entertainer that was singing rock ‘n’ roll tunes,” said branch member Shirley Merrick.
“Our secretary Pat Charlton got up and had a dance with the RSL branch representatives.”
Mayor Stephen Leslie, local member Paul Toole, and councillor Marie Statham also attended the birthday luncheon held at Club Lithgow.
“The library opened on the same day so our dignitaries arrived a bit late. Paul can liven up any situation.”
Local community groups, Probus, Quota International, View Club, RSL sub branch, Catholic Women's League, Hospital auxiliary, Lithgow Garden Club, Lithgow Lions Club and visiting Red Cross Branch Members also joined in for the celebration.
The Red Cross thanked some of its outstanding branch members including secretary Pat Charlton, the team leader for evacuation and recovery centres.
Elaine McMahon was also thanked for her contribution to Red Cross’ Trauma Teddies. Ms McMahon has knitted 871 teddies over the past four years.
The Lithgow Red Cross branch has already raised $6,000 in 2017 for the organisation’s work in disease prevention and health aid.
