Weather causes mayhem in bowls. Three grades involved in the Central Mountains District section of the Zone 4 pennants had to relinquish their chances of playing on both Saturday and Sunday. Only No 7 sides got to play Gulgong at Gulgong. The result were not exactly what was wanted. On the face of it, an 8-2 loss is a heavy defeat, but when the seven points for winning the aggregate is taken into account the defeat is not as bad as it seems. Gulgong won the aggregate by only two shots after the required 63 ends, also taking the ends won by 32-31. City took two of the three rinks by a total of eight shots, however it was the 23-13 loss by Davie Hunter that was costly. Ian Birk skipped his players in Jim Bannerman, Don Kipp and Scott Van Der Draay to a 25-21 win while Ian Northey, Angus MacKinnon, Brian Norris and Greg Quinn got up 22-18. Losing seven shots in the last two ends by the team of Davie Hunter, Iggy Vadkerti, Bruce Gibbons and Richard Forbes was the decider in City returning to Lithgow without an overall victory.
