REOPENED: Lake Lyell has reopened after a blue green algae outbreak announced on February 14 this year.

IT is open season again at Lake Lyell, with the water declared safe for all forms of recreation after a blue green algae outbreak.

Lithgow City Council announced the reopening on Monday, March 20, as the reduction in temperatures and recent rainfall had assisted in the reduction in blue green algae and improved water quality.

The algae was found on February 1, but the lake has now been declared safe, and is open for all forms of recreation.
