The representative honours keep piling up for Lidsdale’s Holly Beecroft but that doesn’t mean the 15-year-old is any less excited to wear Australian colours again.
“The third time you’re like ‘oh yep here we go again’ but I’m still like I’m doing this when I am 15,” Beecroft said.
"It kind if just pops up in the back of my brain saying 'you are going to do this so get ready'.”
Following her performances at last month’s national futsal championships, Beecroft has been selected in the Australian Futsal Youth Team to tour Spain and the UK in November.
This selection comes on the back of her inclusion in the Australian u16s school team to tour Italy in April.
The goalkeeper played for NSW South u15s at the Australian futsal nationals in Sydney.
She was named in the u15s All Star 5 team as chosen by coaches and a selection panel.
Beecroft said she was surprised but pleased to be picked as one of the top five players and the best goalkeeper from the 16 teams in her age group.
The year 10 student at La Salle Academy student "cannot wait" for her upcoming overseas trips but is looking forward to one destination in particular.
"Probably Spain because the people over there, [futsal] runs in their blood, just playing it every day all day."
Both parents, Joe and Sloan Beecroft will be heading over to Spain and the UK to support their daughter.
"A little girl from the country to make it is pretty special isn't it," said Mr Beecroft.
"It's always good to see them put the Australian shirt on especially coming from a town of 2000 people or little place like Lidsdale where there's 200 people."
However being from a small town can have it’s downsides.
"Every time I tell people where I live they don't know where it is, and I have to say Bathurst and then they kind of get it," Holly Beecroft said.
According to Beecroft a key to being a top futsal goalkeeper is to rely on your instinct.
"If you think about it then you kind of hesitate and stop but if you don't think about then everything happens and somehow works.
"You've got to stay concentrated and you've got to not drop your head if a goal goes in and you've got to be tough because you're diving on a hardwood floor."
