Forestry Corporation of NSW’s Regional Manager Jason Molkentin said the forests had been closed in consultation with the Rural Fire Service Deputy Commissioner due to the high threat of bushfire.
“All State forests in the NSW Central West are closed for the weekend due to the high fire danger,” Mr Molkentin said.
“There is a very high fire danger this weekend so we are not taking any risks. Staff are patrolling the forest and advising the campers to recognise the extreme conditions and head home for their own safety and wellbeing.
“Please do not enter these forests. “We have also closed all State forests between Sydney and Kempsey on the north coast, forests in the Pilliga region of western NSW, Tallaganda State Forest in the southern tablelands and Sydney’s Cumberland State Forest.
“We’re asking the community to reconsider their visit to all other NSW State forests until the extreme weather conditions ease.”
