Hockey
Rylee Millar, Dane Guffogg, Hannah Kable and Emily Thompson were all chosen to represent NSW at the 2016 Australian Championships at Illawarra.
Rylee and Hannah were part of the NSW under 15 girls field team, while Emily was chosen for the NSW under 15 Blues team.
Dane was chosen for the NSW boys blue field team.
Futsal
Holly Beecroft and Shaqkyra Quinn have been selected in the Australian under 15 futsal team to tour Brazil.
Sports Awards
The cream of Lithgow’s sporting crop were celebrated at the Reg Cowden Awards. Senior Sports Star of the Year went to Zane Bray, while the joint Junior Sports Stars of the Year were Holly Beecroft and Amelia Leard.
Special guest for the night was Olympian Suzie Balogh.
Bowls
Beryl Evans was the winner of the fiercely contested Lithgow Workmens Club Women’s Bowling Club Singles title.
Beryl took the title after defeating Kath Kenniff.
Soccer
Lithgow Workmens Club Soccer Club president Jake Brown was pleased to announce the re-appointment of Brad Luka as coach of the Club’s first grade side.
He was joined in coaching duties by Martin Hunter, who assumed the role for the second grade side.
King of the Mountain
It was a hattrick for Lithgow’s Wes Gibson who took out the coveted ‘King of the Mountain’ title for the third year in a row.
His time this year was 15 minutes nine seconds, more than a minute ahead of second outright and women’s open winner, Orange Runners Club’s Meg Reeves in 16 minutes 42 seconds.
Cricket
Lidsdale Lions went into the 2015-16 Lithgow Cricket undefeated and looking to go back to back after winning last year’s title … but Lithgow Hotel pulled off one of the biggest upsets in recent years with a gutsy win.
The second grade grand final went to La Salle Hornets .
Golf
IAN Nightingale came home strongly over the last 18 holes of the 72 hole Lithgow Golf Club championships to take out the title from runnerup Andrew Burton.
Campdraught
Rydal’s Nigel Kable blitzed the opposition at the Sydney Royal Easter Show with his horse Chevin Ivory in every section to take out the world champion campdraft title at the show.
Rugby League
Lithgow Workies Wolves’ Hannah Healey was the sole Lithgow representative named in the Group 10 league tag side.
