Hutchinson took 3-19 in his side’s NSW Country Cricket Championship opener against Newcastle, his figures coming off 5.3 overs on the tournament’s first day at Griffith.
The win kicked off Western shot at the title in brilliant fashion, but a loss on day two against Southern/ACT sparked a string of losses for the Zone youngsters.
On Wednesday, Western dropped both of its Twenty20 clashes, too, against North Coastal and Illawarra.
Hutchinson, though, has been a shining light for his side, hitting a quick-fire 18 opening the batting in the 20-over game against Illawarra.
He also nabbed 1-17 against Southern/ACT to go along with his bag of three wickets in the championship’s opening round.
At time of print, Western was locked in a final round clash with Central Northern.
