While the ‘Elvis Express’ has become a popular sight for locals as it makes its way from Sydney to Parkes for the Parkes Elvis Festival, those heading to the Festival itself will be spoiled for choice with a huge range of entertainment planned.
Parkes Elvis Festival is excited to announce not one, but two, international Elvis tribute artists will headline the 2017 Feature Concert Series.
U.K. Elvis tribute artist Pete Storm will be joined by U.S. Elvis tribute artist, Jake Rowley, in a double-header spectacular, to mark the Festival’s 25th anniversary.
Pete Storm has been an Elvis tribute artist for more than 10 years.
His big break came when a bar owner offered him a job on the spot when he went to sing karaoke while on holiday in Tenerife, Spain.
Pete entered his first competition in 2010 and hasn’t looked back since, winning the European Elvis Championships, the UK Images of the King Competition and being crowned Collingwood Grand Champion at the Collingwood Elvis Festival in Canada.
Jacob ‘Jake’ Rowley has been nicknamed “the new teen King” by media in the U.S.
Hailing from South-East Texas, the 20 year old sings, plays guitar and piano, and acts.
His uncanny resemblance to a young Elvis Presley has led to him being in demand for acting roles and concerts in tribute to the King.
He is currently playing the role of a young Elvis Presley in the U.S. national tour with the Million Dollar Quartet.
Pete and Jake will perform four high energy shows at the Parkes Elvis Festival backed by the impressive Elvis in Concert band.
In the double-header Feature Concert series, Pete and Jake will take you through the early years of rock’n’roll, all the way to the legendary Las Vegas years of the 1970s.
“What a way to celebrate the Festival’s 25th anniversary, with two international Elvis tribute artists,” acting festival director, Beth Link said.
“It will be a fantastic part of the 2017 program and we look forward to seeing both Pete and Jake take to the stage in Parkes.”
Pete Storm and Jake Rowley will also appear at the 2017 Parkes Elvis Festival Street Parade, Gospel Service and Renewal of Vows Ceremony.
The 2017 Parkes Elvis Festival will take place over five festive days from Wednesday 11 to Sunday 15 January.
What started as a small get together between likeminded Elvis fans back in 1993 has today grown into an internationally renowned event endorsed by the estate of Elvis Presley.
The Festival turns 25 this year and will celebrate with a 'Viva Las Vegas' theme, featuring more than 120 free and ticketed events, shows, concerts and competitions.
