The Junior Development Series is run in each state by Tennis Australia.

It is for girls and boys playing tennis in age groups ranging from 10 and under through to 18 and under.

Each state is split into country and metropolitan regions with Lithgow forming part of the Central West region.

The Central West region is made up of players from Penrith and Richmond on the Sydney side of the Blue Mountains through to Lithgow, Mudgee, Bathurst, Blayney, Orange, Dubbo and Parkes.

The Central West competition was played across fourteen rounds starting in Bathurst in mid February and finishing in Parkes at the end of August.

The top eight players at the end of round fourteen played off in Champion of Champions held in Bathurst  during September.

Banning competed in the 14 and under age group and finished the season as the winner of the Central West region.

The top four in the Central West region qualified for the Junior Development Series State Finals held in November across venues at Springwood , Richmond and Penrith .

The 32 player field in the Junior Development Series State Finals was made up of the top qualifiers from each of the country and metropolitan regions across NSW.

Banning won her three pool games to come top of her pool which qualified her for the Quarter Finals.

She then went on to win the Quarter Final and Semi Final to qualify for the State Final.

Banning’s run of straight set wins ended in the final but not before she put up a good fight for the match.

Banning would like to thank local coach Rob Hawes for passing on his wealth of experience and skill and current coach John Thompson.
