FIRST LITHGOW WOODCHOP AT THE COMMERCIAL: Wes Smith lets loose at a previous event.

The annual Lithgow Woodchop will be held at the Commercial Hotel for the first time this Saturday.

The axeman will start on the timber at 10am with a Standing Block NSW Championship title on the line in the event schedule.

The other categories on the day will be standing block and underhand handicaps with prize money on offer for the winners.

Finals will start from around 2pm.

Just back after leading the Chopperoos to victory in the Timbersports World Championships in Germany is Brad De Losa.

De Losa will be in the crowd for the family friendly day at the new venue.

Commercial Hotel owner Owen Williams has a big space ready for the woodchop.

He also has put on something for the kids and the adults after taking on the popular event.

There will be a jumping castle and snow cones with a barbecue and beer tent.

Live music after all the axe action will kick off at 8.30pm with Cousin Eddy and the Young Ones.
